Thank you to everyone who managed to join us for our 50th anniversary party on 12th June which was a great success.

25th Anniversary

CELEBRATING OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY - 1965 - 2015

Thursday, March 05, 2015 11:11:00 AM

Whichers was 50 years old on Sunday 1 March and Diane & Robert Whicher joined their brothers and spouses for a wonderful celebratory lunch at The Grand Hotel Seafood Restaurant in Brighton.  A wonderful time was had by all and Sid and Irene Whicher would have been delighted to see us all toasting their achievements.

Now it is back to reality with work getting extremely busy with the run up to the new pension rules and the mortgages still very buoyant.  We believe this 50th year will be one of our busiest ever.

Our Christmas Meal

Thank you Whichers for hosting our belated Christmas meal on the 16th January 2015.

We were all taken to Hutong's Restaurant at the Shard in London.  The food was fantastic and we would thoroughly recommend it.

We hope we didn't cause any inconvenience to anyone as we were treated to an afternoon away from the office.

Christmas comes early

Christmas came early to Whichers today as a number of members of staff enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day!

Merry Christmas from everyone at Whichers!

A NISA way to save

Tuesday, July 15, 2014 12:00:00 PM Categories: ISAs

You may have seen recent press articles on the changes to ISA limits from 1st July 2014. Called the NISA (new-ISA), you are now able to save up to £15,000 each year, up from £11,880. If you have already taken out an ISA in the 2014/15 tax-year it will have automatically converted into a NISA

We have always promoted the use of ISAs as a cornerstone of your investment portfolio due to their excellent tax benefits, including no Capital Gains Tax on withdrawal and no tax on any interest payments received, and this is still the case with the NISA.

However, you should still remember that you can only open one 'Cash' NISA and one 'Stocks & Shares' NISA in any tax-year. You should also be aware that any payments made between 6th April 2014 and 1st July 2014 will also count towards your annual allowance of £15,000.

As always, if you would like to discuss this further please get in touch.

Anyone for tea?

A lovely afternoon was spent entertaining clients and friends of Diane’s at her house on Friday 20th June.

A very English afternoon tea was provided by one of our own – Sarah - and her mum who both do this in their spare time! (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Curiosi-teas-Vintage-Tea-Gifts/265130896964028 if you would like to find out more).

Tea was served on pretty vintage china and consisted of various sandwiches, including the traditional cucumber sandwich! This was followed by lots of delicious homemade cakes and scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam.  Lashings of tea and champagne were also consumed!

Also at the house were Stella and Dot, selling gorgeous jewellery and bags - most people made a purchase or two! (http://www.stelladot.co.uk/ts/4g5ln1)

A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all!

Happy Birthday Sam C!

Whichers are partying this weekend as Sam Cox will be celebrating a milestone birthday, although out of respect for Sam I will not be disclosing which milestone it is. Happy Birthday from everyone at Whichers and we hope you have a great party!

Welcome to the 2014/15 tax-year!

Monday, April 07, 2014 4:01:00 PM Categories: Budget Investments ISAs pensions Regulations

As I am sure you are aware, the 2014/15 tax-year started on Sunday 6th April. The new tax year promises to be an interesting one with the introduction of the NISA (New ISA) from 1 July, which will allow contributions up to £15,000, as well as the new flexibility with regard to pensions (although the real flexibility comes in in July 2015 where the whole pension fund can be taken as a lump sum, less tax at your marginal rate).

If you would like to discuss any of these topics or indeed any other area we can assist in, please get in touch.

30 years and still going strong!
